A: Good question! Many lake maps are created simply by referencing existing data and quickly going to print, often created by people who don't even fish! Each Martin's Map is the product of years of devoted research by the creator himself, Jimmy Martin. Q: Years, eh? How are these maps made? A: They start out just like any lake map - from U.S.G.S. topographical maps. But, once the contours and creek channels are accounted for, the real challenge begins. Pre-impoundment and below-pool photos are scrutinized for things that matter to people who fish. Much time on the water with GPS and a depth sounder follows to log data that could not be dealt with any other way. But most important is a close relationship with numerous serious anglers on these lakes, many of whom depend on consistent success to put food on the table. It is their information that enables our maps to stand out from the pack. Q: Might there be a guiding light behind Martin's Maps? You know, a driving force...a, if you will, reason for being? A: Certainly! We are driven by visions of full livewells after a long day of culling! Sorry, it will never turn out that way every day, but the name of the game is to improve your odds. Bass fishing is by nature a costly sport, and our products stand out by giving you a significant edge at a reasonable price. Q: I already have maps of those lakes. Why do I need yours, too? A: We firmly believe that our maps are the finest fishing maps you can buy and will teach you in a way that no other product can. Plus, most any map will contain information shown by no other map, and it never hurts to hold all the knowledge possible. Q: What are the Lake Fork "Unplugged"© CD-ROM system requirements? A: Pentium or faster PC, Windows 95 or higher, 32 MB RAM (64 MB recommended), CD-ROM drive, 800x600 or better display resolution. Q: What format is the CD-ROM in? A: Adobe Acrobat 4, which is included on the CD. Our goal was to make the CD as user-friendly as possible, and we believe we have succeeded. Q: Whoa! Almost $100 for a map? Are you serious? A: Absolutely. The development costs of the Lake Fork "Unplugged"© CD-ROM were quite substantial, and the human labor involved has been downright staggering. When you see it, you'll understand - it would take years to absorb and utilize all the information on the CD-ROM. If you're serious about catching fish on Lake Fork, we are confident that you will consider it to be some of the best money you ever spent. And for a limited time, you can enjoy this unique resource for half the normal price - $49.95. Q: Can you print the maps from the CD? A: Oh yeah! In fact, we offer you the advantage of being able to print as many copies as you as you need, so you can make notations and organize an attack that fits your style of fishing. When paired with a printer, hole puncher, and binder, the Lake Fork "Unplugged"© CD-ROM is a truly formidable tool. Q: Does Martin's Map have any other projects on the table? A: You bet! Keep an eye out for more "Unpluggings" of Texas bass havens.
